Kate Agerskow
BBC MUSIC INTRODUCING STAGE
12:00pm - 12:30pm
Kate Agerskow is a Hull, UK-based artist who first started writing songs at age 11 in her notebooks at home, despite not being able to play an instrument. Singing them around the house, she felt encouraged to learn piano in order to work out the music, and proceeded to become a prolific songwriter, writing for her own projects and as part of a band in Newcastle, UK where she moved for university.
Taking influence from the likes of Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, The Divine Comedy and Joni Mitchell, her melodic, sweeping piano-based sound features understated cello and Kate's fragile and beautiful vocals.
Debut EP 'Saltlines' was recorded in Newcastle, UK by Duncan Lloyd of the band Maximo Park and released in November 2024. After support slots with artists such as Rachael Lavelle and Tom Hickox, Kate has been gaining momentum back in her hometown of Hull.
