Maftin
BBC MUSIC INTRODUCING STAGE
7:45pm - 8:15pm
MAFTIN curate a sound that carefully balances the tightrope of electronica and psychedelia, whilst infusing alternative pop sensibilities you’d likely hear somewhere south of midnight in Berlin.
Having shared stages with the likes of Idles, The Horrors, Soft Play and The Wytches in previous projects, the trio quickly won over BBC 6Music royalty in Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens with showcase performances at The Great Escape and Left of the Dial Festival.
The three-piece has since turned to the inevitable allure of drum machines and synthesisers to create alternative electronic music through gritty verses and anthemic choruses.
Formed in Kingston upon Hull, Maftin are a powerhouse collective featuring some of the city’s most legendary musicians. Drawing on a wealth of experience from their time in notable local acts like Vulgarians and Cannibal Animal, the band blends raw, unfiltered energy with sharp songwriting.
